Mustang 60th Anniversary
New Mustang Heritage Gauge Cluster
Through software updates, Ford is giving 2024 Ford Mustang customers the ability to select a heritage-inspired 1967-1968 gauge cluster that combines the best parts of Mustang throughout the years for a timeless, classic feel.
Hundreds of individual Mustang gauge clusters spanning multiple iconic years were evaluated to create this new Heritage Gauge Cluster. A realistic chrome render wraps these gauges, just like the polished metal used in 1967-1968.
The update is rolling out now. For customers, don’t forget that to receive this and future updates, turn ‘On’ Automatic Software Updates and set a recurring schedule in the Software Updates Settings menu.
Mustang Experience Center: The New Hub for Mustang Owners and Fans
Amid the roar of engines at the iconic Charlotte Motor Speedway, Ford is about to hit the accelerator on a new Mustang experience – with owners and fans at the center of it all.
The Mustang Experience Center, set to open next year, will be the destination for all things Mustang, whether it’s hitting the track, snagging some merch, or soaking in the rich six-decade history of Mustang.
“Mustang has always been about more than just the car; it’s the experiences that come with it, from road trips to track days to cars & coffee. Mustang Experience Center is poised to become a special gathering place for the Mustang community, weaving the spirit of the car and Charlotte Motor Speedway together to create new memories.”
The addition of the Mustang Experience Center is also driving an expansion of hands-on track instruction at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Ford Performance Racing School’s Mustang Unleashed, a new program for Mustang EcoBoost and GT, builds on the Dark Horse Track Attack program so all 2024 Mustang owners can learn how to get the most fun and performance out of their cars.
Adjacent to the Charlotte Motor Speedway, Mustang Experience Center’s blend of automotive culture and celebration will feature a Ford Heritage Gallery to celebrate all 60 years of Mustang history, an aftermarket parts shop, retail store for Mustang merchandise, and conference space for corporate events. The Mustang Experience Center can even host weddings, because like the car it celebrates, it’s about creating great memories.
Spanning nearly 2,000 acres, the Charlotte Motor Speedway boasts a 2.25-mile road course and a quarter-mile oval nestled within its 1.5-mile Superspeedway. The speedway also offers a four-tenths clay oval, the renowned four-wide zMAX Dragway, and the exciting addition of a new 1.7-mile road course set to open this quarter.
The Mustang Experience Center joins other unique Ford owner experiences like F-150 and Ranger Raptor Assault School and Bronco Off-Roadeo, the latter which recently opened to non-owners.
New Mustang GT3 Champion Spirit Livery is an Ode to Past Ford Racers
By Mark Rushbrook, Director of Global Ford Performance Motorsports
I have been captivated by racing my whole life since my dad first turned on the TV to watch the Monaco Grand Prix. It has morphed in to both my passion and now my job – which is the dream scenario for sure. Throughout my early years and ever since, Mustang has been front and center for me, from those early days of watching the legendary Parnelli Jones though to now running our global Mustang race programs on 5 of the 7 continents of the world.
Throughout that period, the way these cars looked either on the TV or in person has been a huge part of why I love Mustang so much.
The term livery typically refers to a unique design or insignia indicating affiliation, often seen on people or vehicles. For enthusiasts like me, it evokes memories of iconic Ford race cars and their storied designs. Many of you might even reminisce about your favorite racing liveries or a memorable driver’s number.
To honor some of the most iconic Mustang sports car racers of the past 60 years, Ford Performance is proud to introduce the new Mustang GT3 IMSA factory race cars, featuring the unique Champion Spirit Livery. This livery is a fusion of art and history, celebrating the colors and designs of eight significant Mustang racers by creating a new, unique livery that encapsulates Mustang's achievements in sports car racing since 1964. Selecting just eight designs from a long list of iconic liveries was a challenging task.
Upon seeing the completed version, I was immediately struck by the rich heritage and champion spirit embodied in Mustang racing. From its first international success at the Tour de France in 1964, just months after its debut, to the unmistakable Motorcraft livery of 1985, where Mustang dominated the IMSA GTO class, this livery represents significant moments in Mustang's history.
The designers adopted an artistic approach to blend different designs, creating a new livery that pays tribute to Mustang's racing legacy while highlighting the Mustang GT3’s power. Each historic livery is depicted as battle-worn, layered into the Mustang GT3's design, signifying its deep-rooted spirit. Every major race win and championship has propelled Mustang forward, and we believe this Champion Spirit will drive Mustang to future victories.
The factory IMSA GTD PRO Mustang GT3s, racing under the Ford Multimatic Motorsports banner, will debut in the Champion Spirit livery at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca (May 10-12) before moving on to their home race at the Detroit Grand Prix (May 31-June 1). They will continue to sport this special livery before returning to their traditional full-season livery at Watkins Glen (June 20-23).

Sixty years and seven generations after the Ford Mustang debuted at the 1964 New York World’s Fair, Ford is celebrating the heritage of one of the most iconic vehicles in automotive history with a limited-edition Mustang 60th Anniversary package.
The Ford Mustang 60th Anniversary package is only available for the GT Premium with 5.0-liter V8 and will be available on both coupe and convertible models with either manual or automatic transmissions.
Building upon the iconic design cues that have defined the Mustang, it features a unique dash plaque and exclusive exterior features that create a special look and feel that brings classic accents of the original car that debuted in 1964 into the modern era.
“The design was directly inspired by the clean silhouette of the original car,” said Stefan Taylor, senior designer. “During the design process, we looked closely at the finely detailed elements of the 1965 Mustang, like the fender badges and wheel center caps. Our focus was capturing the feel of the ‘65, while also staying true to the Mustang as the modern sports car that it is.”
"We took inspiration from the original Mustang and applied some of the most special design elements to the latest in this limited production run. Mustang’s design DNA has never been stronger or more enduring than this multi-generational tribute.”
Here are the key features of the Ford Mustang 60th Anniversary Package.
Exclusive 60th Anniversary badges on the fenders and trunk lid are a modern take on the 1965 Mustang cloisonné badges
Unique 20-inch wheels finished in Dark Gravity Gray with bright machined details featuring a Vermillion Red, retro-themed stamped aluminum center cap inspired by the 1965 Mustang center caps
Exclusive side graphics which can be optioned in either Iconic Silver or Vermillion Red and are reminiscent of Mustang’s original rocker panel stripes
New grille with a unique mesh design as a callback to the 1964 original made modern with silver-accented nostrils that are also functional air intakes for the 5.0-liter V8
Smoked housing of standard Mustang Nite Pony headlights allows silver-accented nostrils to stand out
Iconic Silver mirror caps on Race Red, Vapor Blue cars callback to chrome mirrors of old, while Wimbledon White cars adopt body-color mirror caps
Ford Mustang 60th Anniversary Package is available in classic Wimbledon White, modern Race Red and Vapor Blue colors.
Interior colors available in Space Gray, Carmine Red or Black Onyx.

Ford Mustang Global Gallop Celebrates Mustang 60 Around the World
By Matt Simpson, Ford Enthusiast Vehicles General Manager
Ford Mustang is celebrating its 60th anniversary. For 60 years it has been a fixture on roads and racetracks around the world and has earned its status as a symbol of driving freedom and excitement across oceans and national borders.
Today, Mustang is sold on six of the seven continents. It’s available in 85 markets, and you’re as likely to see one on George Street in Sydney, the Gran Via in Madrid, or Avenida Atlântica in Rio de Janeiro as you are parked on your local street. There’s also the electric Mustang Mach-E, also available around the world, for customers who love the thrill of instant Mustang torque and zero emissions.
This year stands out not just for the global celebration of Mustang’s 60th year on sale, but for the arrival of the all-new seventh-generation Mustang around the globe.
To celebrate, we’re putting 2024 Mustang and Mustang Mach-Es in the hands of 60 journalists, content creators, and Mustang ambassadors from around the world for the Ford Mustang Global Gallop. The challenge is very simple: Get out there and drive someplace epic in a Mustang.
Because that’s always been the strength of Mustang. It’s a car built for experiencing the open road with emotion, performance, and excitement and for drivers who are always wondering what’s around the next bend.
Now, I’d love to tell you about what makes one person’s ultimate Mustang road trip, but to be frank, I don’t know what our ambassadors will come up with. A North American ambassador could retrace Route 66 in a Mustang Convertible or drive to the top of Pike’s Peak in a Mach-E Rally, while a European ambassador might trek to Romania and drive the Transfăgărășan highway in a Mustang Dark Horse. The point is these experiences are up to the imaginations of the our ambassadors.
Andy To (@Andyto), Lauren Stoney (@lalafox92), and Uma Leoni (@Leonis.studios) are just some of the people taking part, with more to come as the year continues. But we won’t be waiting long to find out what adventures they’ll take Mustang on – the first journeys start in May.
And Mustang fans can follow along at #FordMustangGG and #Mustang60 (or use those tags for your own adventures). And once the 60 road trips are complete, we’ll wrap Mustang’s 60th year on the market with an epic recap of Ford Mustang Global Gallop.
This was always going to be a milestone year for Mustang, but the Ford Mustang Global Gallop makes it bigger and more worldly than ever.
Nearly sixty years ago, Ford unveiled the original Mustang at the World’s Fair in New York. Today, the next chapter of Mustang begins with an epic Mustang fan event at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Owners and fans in attendance will get a first look at a limited edition 60th Anniversary Appearance Package and try new, exclusive Mustang ownership experiences rolling out over the next year.
They’ll meet Ford Performance racing drivers, get up close and personal with monster Mustangs, including the Mustang Mach-E 1400, and see the entire array of racing Mustangs in one place.
Ride-alongs in Mustangs on a drift track and around Charlotte’s famed Roval will give a first-hand taste of not just Mustang performance, but some of the skills they can learn through Mustang’s new ownership experiences.
Owners can also learn about Mustang in the aftermarket through the Pony Personalization Corner, which will include exhibits from RTR and others.
Follow this blog all day for the latest updates, and tune into the livestream event that starts at 5 p.m. EDT.
